Step-by-Step Guide to DIY Waterproofing

Step 1: Inspect the Surface
Ensure the surface is clean and in good condition. Remove grease, moss, and mold, for example, using a pressure washer. The masonry should be intact, and cracks larger than 3 mm must be repaired.
Step 2: Mask Off Areas
Cover parts that should not be treated, such as window frames and glass. For water-based waterproofing solutions, spills are less harmful compared to solvent-based products. For creams, masking is usually unnecessary.
Step 3: Wear Protective Gear
Wear old clothes or a disposable overall and always use gloves and eye protection.
Step 4: Choose the Right Waterproofing Product
The type of waterproofing product depends on the surface. Use liquid or cream, depending on the material. Liquid is applied with a low-pressure sprayer from top to bottom. Cream can be applied with a brush or roller and penetrates deeper.
